Having successfully completed a major financing round early in 2021 and striving for FDA clearance hopefully soon after the recent approval by Health Canada of what will become our next flagship product, the SavvyWire, the timing could not be better for OpSens to bring on board our first U.S. Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support our growing commercial team.

Position summary

OpSens Medical’s Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) will bring dedicated support to our rapidly expanding U.S. Commercial team located throughout the U.S. and be based out of our new U.S. headquarters located in Brooklyn Center, MN.  Reporting to the Vice-president of human resources, she/he will team up with the Chief Commercial Officer and his leadership team to ensure the implementation of policies, procedures and programs that respect and promote OpSens’ culture and values, as well as ensure a sound balance between efficiency and quality in the delivery of her/his services.

In this fast pace and highly competitive world of the medical device industry, our HRBP is a well-rounded generalist who will act as a sounding board for our U.S. leadership team, a pilar to rely on for all team members when it comes to getting the work done professionally, in respect of all applicable regulations and aligned with best industry practices.

Key responsibilities

  • Acts as a beacon of OpSens culture and values for all, supporting the leaders in their responsibility of promoting, cultivating, and celebrating them with their team members.
  • Ensures constant communications with Opsens’ U.S. commercial leadership team to ensure their voices are heard in the HR processes, their needs are clearly identified, their experience is leveraged and ultimately, alignment on occurring issues is reached.
  • Collaborates with the V.-P. Human Resources and the HR team to elaborate the annual HR strategic plan in light of broader company objectives; Takes part in the annual organizational planning; Identifies improvement opportunities, recommends and upkeeps KPIs and other HR data, monitors market conditions, and stays abreast of best industry practices.
  • Teams up with the V.-P. Human Resources and the Chief Commercial Officer and his leadership team to work on organizational development projects ensuring team structures and resourcesmeet OpSens fast growth environment and alignment with culture and values; Supports annual talent review and succession planning.
  • Directs and takes leading/firsthand role in the field of talent attraction, onboarding, compensation and performance management activities, from start to finish, in a highly regulated and sophisticated environment. Collaborates with Training and development team to support needs analysis and training delivery as determined.
  • Supports the internal communications structuring, and eventually resulting efforts, to ensure proactive, engaging, coherent and coordinated production and dissemination of internal communications.
  • Acts as an experienced coach and advisor for managers and employees to stir away from conflict yet ensure issues are dealt with timely and effectively.
  • Acts as primary operational point of contact for all HR (recruiters, credentialing, pre-employment verifications, etc.)/payroll & benefits/Workers’ comp third party vendors and primary point of service for all team members.
  • Takes part and at times leads specific projects (HRIS / Software implementation, recognition activities.
  • As for anyone in a smaller and growing team, rolls her/his sleeves and ensures HR administrative tasks are completed timely and rigorously.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management
  • 7 to 10 years of experience in human resources management
  • Generalist experience supporting a commercial team in the medical device industry, otherwise in a similarly highly regulated industry (e.g.: medical, pharmaceutical, food, etc.) as well as in a multi-state / jurisdictional context
  • Proven track record with significant accomplishments in organizational development, talent attraction, compensation, performance management activities and coaching of leaders
  • Solid knowledge of labour regulations
  • Demonstrates positive and inspirational influence
  • Strong coaching and communication skills
  • Analytical skills and open-mindedness
  • Good time and priority management as well as thoroughness in the execution of work
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Proactivity and initiative
  • Knowledge of the MS-Office suite
  • Occasional travel required (15%)
  • Valid SHRM membership is a major asset
